Sumser falls, hits head, writes post?
Our friend Bob Wilson has his beliefs on Mr. Sumser’s article yesterday, although I believe my title “Sumser falls, hits head, writes post?” is the only solid explaination regarding Mr. Sumser’s article yesterday regarding America’s Job Bank replacement. Truly he must have fallen, hit his head, and found his way to the PC, because I cannot picture such an irresponsible individual as Recruiting.com’s new Executive Editor. Can you?
Let me explain….
After reading Mr. Sumser’s America’s Job Bank article yesterday morning “Of Note” I was filled with laughter. Why you might ask? When read, it’s easy to ascertain Mr. Sumser knows little about compliance, moreover the steps DirectEmployers Association has taken thus far, with JobCentral, to provide compliance after America’s Job Bank’s closure.
I’ll start with the little things.. It is incredibly hard to take a writer serious about a topic if he cannot even get the names of the players correct? Navistar? America’s Job Board? Are these Bush league errors, or proof of a head contusion?
Moving on, how can Mr. Sumser “make sense” and “ask key questions” if he does not perform the proper research to qualify what makes sense and what questions need to be asked? Personally, I cannot make sense or ask intelligent questions regarding hair restoration, because it is not my area of expertise, much like compliance is not Mr. Sumser’s. I must perform the proper research to understand what makes sense prior to forming said “key questions”.
Adding to my morning “slip and fall” chuckle, it is blatantly clear Mr. Sumser had not read all of the information he refers to as “baseline information” for his article. And for some wild reason he fails to outline DirectEmployers’ endorsement by the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, a non-profit group representing all 50 state Workforce agencies. Especially since this information was also readily available on Bob Wilson’s blog, a source used in Mr. Sumser’s article. Further adding substance to my “slip and fall” theory.
Mr. Sumser says “The business of manipulating the market creates the opportunistic behavior we’re witnessing.”
Overall, what Mr. Sumser fails to realize is the members of the non-profit DirectEmployers Association formed an AJB advisory council, several months ago, and key delegates have traveled to speak with leaders of Federal and State government to address AJB replacement for over a year. The advisory group has also covered gaps needed to include small companies wanting to utilize JobCentral National Labor Exchange. Mr. Sumser, does this qualify as market manipulation? or opportunistic behavior?
I would like to assure Mr. Sumser, and more importantly his readers, there is not a stone unturned regarding the AJB replacement DirectEmployers is providing. Our organization, and its constituents, has performed the necessary research in understanding what is necessary to help our member companies and the rest of the recruiting populace, big or small.
Mr. Sumser’s article was either a display of ignorance, malice, or a slip and fall incident. We’re hoping it is the latter, because hiring companies are hoping to be educated with compliance facts not mal-intended fiction. Some say Mr. Sumser arouses thought provoking conversation, I counter, erroneous information is a waste of time. Be responsible and provide relevant and well researched information to your readers, especially on topics this important. And if you’ve fallen and can’t get up just press the red button on the device around your neck and relax, help is on the way.
In closing, it is my I belief this could have all been avoided if Mr. Sumser would have made one phone call to industry leader Bill Warren or made better use of his walker.

Great points, Chad.
I believe corporations big and small will benefit tremendously from a relationship with DirectEmployers.
I know we have. We passed an OFCCP audit due in large part to our relationship and membership in DirectEmployers.
We’ve also made three placements as a direct result of our DirectEmployers membership.
Proof positive that DirectEmployers works.
Thanks for all the great work you guys do for the corporate community.
