Siemens says Math + Science = Cash
Big props to companies like Siemens who promote high school level math and science competition and provide winners with up to $100k for their innovative ideas.
This type of High School program is vital to our nation’s workforce, moreover our economy. For several years the U.S. has been slipping in the areas of Math and Science, only through programs such as these will companies be able to attract, develop and retain MORE young talent in our nation.

Here is another great contest for high school kids who are interested in math. It is entirely Internet-based, you must form a team of 3-5 students, and there are no fees to compete. You find out and download the real-world problem in the morning of the Challenge, and must upload your solution by that night. $65,000 in scholarship prizes is up for grabs. This one is currently open only in the Boston/New York/Philadelphia and surrounding areas, but expect it to spread across the US over the next few years.
Sponsored by The Moody’s Foundation.
Organized by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.

Thanks Michelle, I would love to see competitions like this open for the entire Nation..
Where was all the radio and TV coverage of this? Why didn’t NPR cover it as they usually do (especially since they announced the week before that they would)? What happened in 2004? What is the reputation of the (German) company behind this competition and what are they being investigated for? Are there any secret agendas at work behind these “shows”? Lots of questions - no answers yet.
YES… Science + Math = Cash (for Siemens maybe?)
Nobody’s going to pull the wool over your eyes, are they? Or maybe only “happy talk” is allowed here. So much for seeking the truth, advocating for historical accuracy, demanding scientific rigor and holding people accountable for possible wrongdoing. What ever Siemens (Simon?) says is OK by you.
